First year architecture students designed building for the Manhattan grid as a task in the course "Design with Media“. In the course the 130 participants learn the basics of parametric design, digital fabrication (3D printing, laser cutting) and visualization strategies. The exercises were accompanied by a lecture series that discusses tools and methods of computational design and its multiple links into architectural history.
