DDU welcomes Max Eschenbach

DDU is happy to welcome Max Eschenbach as a new team member

Max Eschenbach is a research associate at the Digital Design Unit (DDU). He studied product design at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, where he also worked in research and teaching in the study workshop for Digital Design & Fabrication (Digitale 3D-Technik) from 2019 onwards. He also gained practical experience in the implementation of projects at Zurich based office Design-to-Production (2015).

In 2020, he graduated by writing his diploma thesis on knit membranes in an architectural context. During his thesis he developed the open-source software “Cockatoo”, which can be used to derive manufacturing data for knit fabrics from 3D geometry.

His current research focuses on the development of bespoke digital process chains as well as interactive design and modelling tools for design, planning and digital fabrication.
